Intermittent Collaboration

I am a steadfast believer that innovation comes from communication and collaboration. But I just as strongly believe in separating disparate mission sets under different leaders. Flat organizations can be hard to focus.

Too little communication is dangerous because there won’t be synergy and learning.

However, too much collaboration and all your minds end up in the same place, hypnotized, caught in groupthink, and focused on the same types of solutions.

Intermittent collaboration drives innovation. Let your teams develop unique skills and occasionally bring them together to challenge each other’s perceptions and methods.
